BANGOR CITY CHESS CLUB – DIRECTIONS

At:         7.00 p.m.  Monday evenings in University term times

In:          Room G1, Main Arts Building, University of Bangor, LL57 2DG.

How to get there

From the A5 (Deiniol Road) through Bangor. Follow the one way system round to the left, into Farrar Road, then right & right again to bring you up by the station on your left (near the traffic lights). Go straight over, up the hill past Morrisons, and turn right by the Belle Vue Hotel into College Road.  

In 0.2 miles, the Main Arts building is on your right, (a modern building attached to the front of an ancient one) behind a traffic barrier and a car park. Go through barrier (if barrier is down, press intercom buzzer on barrier post, which will connect you to Security – tell them you’re here for Bangor Chess Club, & they’ll raise the barrier). Then keep left for main car park.  The main entrance is off this car park in the new part of the building (sliding double doors). If locked, there is a buzzer to the right of the door & Security will open it (or wait till a student comes in with their security card and follow them in!). If the buzzer is broken/not answered, telephone Main Arts Security at: 01248 382795 to let you in).

From Anglesey direction, follow the A5 (Holyhead Road) into Upper Bangor, and turn left by the Belle Vue into College Road. Follow local directions as above.

Inside the building:

Once inside the building, turn left, and follow a long corridor into the old part of the building as far as you can, to a sign for Welsh History & Archaeology Department. Go through the door and follow the corridor to the left (no other option!). Room G1 is the 3rd door on the right (usually with a crude Chess Club sign on the door!).
