About Us:

We are a group of like-minded chess enthusiasts who would like to share our love of the game to the wider North Wales community.  We run various in person club nights and play socially and competitively together in over the board play.  Most of the local competitive games other than those that are played in the Chester and district chess league are rated by our friends down south at the Welsh Chess Union.

Chester and district chess league games are rated by the English Chess Federation. The Welsh Chess Union was founded in 1970 when it broke away from what was the British Chess Federation at the time.

More information about the Great British Chess Schism of 1970, as taken from the Welsh Chess Union website can be found here.

Bold in Attack; In Defence Secure.
